Fiduciaries’ ongoing performance oversight of a client’s investment portfolio has become a key theme for regulators and litigators to review in a number of jurisdictions.  The speakers will outline some of the key issues trustees face and how to resolve them when selecting a discretionary managed solution and ongoing investment oversight, covering:

  • Identifying the information required for selecting a discretionary manager or managed solution and ongoing investment portfolio monitoring and reporting.
  • What performance data is required and how to collate it and how it translates into meaningful information
  • Outline how this data translates into meaningful information
  • How to assess suitability of an investment manager and performance of a portfolio
  • How to compare and evaluate managers ante and post appointment
  • Some recent market insights

 

Speakers
  • Jonathan Gamble, ARC, Guernsey
    Jonathan joined ARC in 2001 and manages relationships with a wide range of intermediaries, seeking to provide practical solutions to their problems. Following a BSc (Econ) degree in Economics from the London School of Economics (1988), Jonathan travelled for eighteen months around the world. On his return, he joined Morgan Stanley International foreign exchange trading desk in London. Two years later he moved to Sydney where he worked for Société Générale being promoted to Regional Chief Dealer in Singapore. After moving to Paris, he attended INSEAD completing an MBA (Dean’s List – 2000). Jonathan holds the Chartered Wealth Manager and Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
  • Phil Duffin, ARC, Jersey
    Phil joined ARC in 2014 and heads up the Performance Reporting Team for the group. He joined ARC from an independent trust company where he ran their investment supervision function. Phil has worked in the finance industry for about 30 years, most recently in the trust industry, and previously with several international banks, both in the UK and Jersey. Phil holds a BSc (Hons) in Financial Services from UMIST, is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment and is an Associate of the Institute of Financial Services.
