  • Responsibilities & Liabilities of the Corporate Service Providers and the interplay with the designated persons (example employees and other third parties) in respect of in scope appointments of Directors and the Company Secretary. 


Dr Joseph Saliba 
Joseph Saliba is a co-founder and partner of the Maltese lawfirm Saliba Stafrace Legal, situated in Valletta, whose core practice areas consist of financial services legislation and regulation, corporate law, development, planning and environmental legislation and general commercial law.  
He is actively involved in the structuring and setting up of investment funds, investment firms and financial institutions.  He also provides legal assistance and on-going regulatory and transactional advice to a number of industry players in various sectors of financial services, including fund managers and custodians.  He also provides Maltese law related advice on cross-border transactions.   
Ms Nicole Demicoli
Nicole’ Ann Demicoli is a financial services lawyer with her main area of practice being advising and assisting local and foreign clients operating in the investment services sector. For the past nine years she has assisted local and foreign promoters in the setting up of UCITS, alternative investment funds, fund management companies and other types of licence holders as well as providing advice to clients in relation to matters dealing with financial services on ad hoc basis.

The objective of this session titled ‘Rules and Regulations applicable for Corporate Service Providers’ will principally provide participants with an overview of the regulatory regime in place for entities registered as Company Service Providers and will seek to examine practical scenarios which may arise in the context of their ongoing operations and other potential conflicts triggered between the Company Service Provider and the designated officers occupying in scope appointments.
