Background Information:
The smallest island in Europe Union, situated in the middle of the Mediterranean, continues to be one of the top choices for individuals who wish to move from their country of origin or residence. Amongst which are those who wish to take up a new employment in Malta, reunite with a family member in Malta, spend their retirement years in Malta or pursue their studies in Malta.  Malta is also an attractive jurisdiction for HNWI who wish to obtain their tax residency, residency or alternative nationality. The seminar will focus primarily on the residence, employment, tax and social security issues connected to relocation to Malta. Special reference will also be made to the tax and residency programmes namely Residence Programme, the Global Residence Programme and the Malta Residence and Visa Programme.

  • Dr Ramona Azzopardi -Tax Partner 
    WH Partners
    Ramona heads the Tax and Private Client Department of WH Partners. She is recognised as one of the leading taxation lawyers in Malta. Ramona regularly advises corporate clients in the gambling, financial services & fintech and digital services industries on their cross-border tax implications. She also assist HNWI families in estate and tax planning. Ramona holds a Doctor of Laws Degree and Masters in Financial Services from the University of Malta and is a regular speaker at tax conferences. She is also Council Member at the Malta Institute of Taxation.
  • Dr Joselyn Teuma - WH Partners 
    Junior Associate
    She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Honours) in 2018 from the University of Malta and is currently reading for a Master of Advocacy at the same University.
    Having particular interest in Taxation law, in 2018, Joselyn submitted her Term Paper on a legal subject to the Faculty of Laws entitled Public County-by-Country Reporting – The Solution Towards Greater Tax Transparency. Joselyn has acted as a liaison officer in the 2017 Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union and has been a member of several sub-committees in organisations within the University, particularly in GħSL. Joselyn’s main legal areas of interest are Taxation law, Corporate law, European and International law.
