Event Overview

International corporate tax rules have seen some of the biggest changes in recent years since the commencement of the OECD BEPS project. One of the outcomes of the OECD BEPS project, in conjunction with the role which technology has played in shaping the global economy, is an increased focus on digitalised businesses and the commitment to ensure taxation in the jurisdiction where income is earned.

This seminar will provide an overview of work carried out by the OECD in understanding the ‘digital economy’ and the interim report on tax challenges arising from the digital economy. The seminar will also consider the two proposed directives published by the European Commission with the intention to address digital transformation within the economy.

Speakers

Luca Pace

Luca is a manager within the international tax team at Deloitte Malta, having joined after reading for a Master in Accountancy degree at the University of Malta, with main areas of focus being tax transparency as well as the digital economy, such as distributed ledger technologies.
